Summers Co. Recycling

Recycling Program

Summers County 4-H and the Green Team appreciate the participation of our local citizens, schools and businesses in our recycling program. However, we depend upon everyone to adhere to the following guidelines in order to keep the program running as smoothly as possible.

Our PRIMARY REQUIREMENTS:

NO

household waste, construction materials, appliances, or debris of any kind in trailers.

All recyclables must be separated in bags, boxes, or bundled BY ITEM—No Mixing

in bags. (All newspapers together, all magazines together, all aluminum together, all plastic separated by number, etc.) Mixed materials are considered trash and will not be accepted at the Greenbrier County Recycling Center where our materials are taken.

What we can recycle:

Plastics—Look for triangular symbol with a number in it on container. No caps on bottles please.

o

#1—Usually Clear or See-Thru Soda and Water Bottles; mouthwash, catsup, salad dressing bottles, etc.

o

#2—Can be Cloudy or Opaque such as white or pale yellow milk jugs or any color plastic jugs, bottles, and containers for products such as laundry detergent, household cleaners, and coffee.

Aluminum Cans

Tin Cans—rinsed out and labels removed

Non-glossy Office Paper

Newspaper

Magazines

For collection sites, when trailer is nearly full (at least one or two days in advance of being completely full), a designated person should call the Summers County Solid Waste Authority at 304-466-0695 to request an empty trailer. Pulling full loads only as needed will allow us to stretch our scarce fuel budget.

Questions, Problems or Concerns- Please call Teri Clark, Solid Waste Authority Director at
